The Vanishing Key

At 7:10 p.m., the theatre manager's brass key disappeared from a locked rehearsal room. Three people were nearby. Read the statements, inspect the evidence and name the culprit.

Mara · Stage Manager

“I was in the lobby printing tomorrow's schedule. I never entered rehearsal.”

Leo · Lighting Tech

“I checked the room at 7:00. The key was on the desk when I left.”

Nina · Violinist

“I stayed onstage practising until the manager raised the alarm.”

Evidence file

1. The lobby printer log shows Mara printed two pages at 7:06 p.m.

2. A stage recording captures Nina playing continuously from 6:58 to 7:12 p.m.

3. The rehearsal-room door locks automatically. Entry requires the keypad code.

4. Leo's written maintenance report says: “At 7:05, I returned the key to the desk and pulled the door shut behind me.”

That theory does not fit every piece of evidence. Compare the exact times in the statements and report.

Case solved: Leo

Leo claimed he left at 7:00 with the key still on the desk, but his own report says he returned at 7:05 and handled it. Mara and Nina both have time-stamped evidence. Leo concealed his second visit—the contradiction that breaks the case.

Paid cases are longer and include suspect files, timelines, messages, evidence reports, puzzles and a complete solution.
